Reaver Track

“She’s dreaming… Scary monsters.”
-Scientist, ‘Serenity’

On this weekend before Halloween, we’ll put some shivers in your spine with this two-part tour. We’ll begin with a guided tour of Providence, home of H.P. Lovecraft, author of the “Cthulhu” stories. Our guide will show us sites of significance to Lovecraft.

An acknowledged genius of occult and horror fiction, Lovecraft’s “Providence stories” (written between 1924 and 1935) provide the basis for this literary walk. Passages from The Case of Charles Dexter Ward, Haunter of the Dark, The Shunned House, and many letters written to family and friends offer astounding detail about the life and time of this popular author.

Although Lovecraft was born 120 years ago (August 23, 1890) most Providence sites that he described in the 1920’s can still be seen today.

We will have a non-haunted lunch (we hope) and check out a bit of Providence. After that, we’ll head to Fall River, MA, to the famous home (now an inn) where Lizzie Borden may or may not have whacked her parents with an axe. You can learn the famous rhyme about it. And likely many other things you did not know about this infamous tale.

We have found a free website where you can read the Lovecraft stories, should you desire to have a preview of the tour, or perhaps just to put yourself into the mood.

Registration for this track close in early October.
