“We’re in no rush. I like an easy, languorous journey.”
-Mal, ‘Out of Gas’

Here is a partial list of travel information to get to the hotel, we’ll update this page as we collect more helpful information. We have discovered for the folks in Massachusetts that the MBTA commuter rail only goes to TF Green during the week, not weekends!

There is a ride-share (and room-share) topic on the forum.

Southbound on I-95: Take Exit 12A.  Go East on Route 113.  You will pass the hotel on your right.  At the first light turn right on Greenwich Avenue.  Turn right again into the hotel’s driveway.

By Air:

Domestic Travelers:  You will fly to T.F. Green Airport, airport code PVD.  For information about the airport visit http://www.pvdairport.com/.

To get from the airport to the hotel, go to baggage claim and find the Info Booth.  Tell them you want the shuttle to the Crowne Plaza on Greenwich Avenue, and they will set it up for you.  The shuttle is free.

International Travelers:  Air Canada does fly to the Providence airport.  For other travelers, if you can’t fly directly to Providence, go to Boston, Massachusetts instead (airport code BOS).  For information about the airport visit http://www.massport.com/logan-airport/.  Boston is about an hour’s drive north of Providence.  We advise against renting a car – driving in Boston is not for the faint of heart.  We suggest that you contact us and we will advise you on the best way to get to the Ball; there are public transportation options available, but maybe we can hook you up with a ride.

By Public Transportation:

For bus schedules visit the Rhode Island Public Transit Authority’s website: http://www.ripta.com.

Take the Route 20 bus from Kennedy Plaza to T.F. Green airport (there are other buses that go to the airport, but they don’t all run on weekends, and #20 does). To get from the airport to the hotel, go to baggage claim and find the Info Booth. Tell them you want the shuttle to the Crowne Plaza on Greenwich Avenue, and they will set it up for you. The shuttle is free.

MBTA (Boston area)

The Commuter Rail system goes to Providence, and on weekdays it goes all the way to T.F. Green airport. Unfortunately, the airport service doesn’t run on weekends.

On Saturday, the train will take you as far as the Amtrak station at 100 Gaspee Street in downtown Providence. See below for instructions.

RIPTA tells us “take any #50 Douglas, #55 Admiral-PC, #56 Chalkstone, or #57 Smith bus. They all travel from the Providence Train Station on Gaspee Street to Kennedy Plaza.” It’s less than a mile away; you could also take a cab. From Kennedy Plaza, the Route 20 bus will go to the airport. To get from the airport to the hotel, go to baggage claim and find the Info Booth. Tell them you want the shuttle to the Crowne Plaza on Greenwich Avenue, and they will set it up for you. The shuttle is free.
