History
In 2004, the Inaugural Browncoat Ball (BCB) was held in Chicago with great success. The Chicagoland Browncoats aimed to bring fans from around the world together to celebrate Firefly and each other. The vision for the Browncoat Ball was that it would be an affordable fan-run event to be held in a different city each year to maximize convenience and attendance.
The second Browncoat Ball was hosted by the San Francisco Browncoats in 2006. The opulence and splendor of the weekend-long event drew in 150 Browncoat attendees from across the United States, Canada and Australia. It was the west-coast’s first chance at putting on The BCB and boy, did everyone have a blast!
In 2007, the Pennsylvania Browncoats, brought us together at the epicenter of American independence. The weekend proved to not only be enjoyable and entertaining, but educational as well. When the east-coast got its turn to host the BCB - the Browncoats minds were packed with history and the dance floor was packed with fun!
This year, it’s Texas’ turn.
Join The Austin Browncoats as we present your 2008 Browncoat Ball. We’re the new Silicon Valley in the heart of the Texas Hill Country, located dead-center in the most independent state in the union. Heck, it's the only state that ever was it's own country! Welcome to where the Old West meets the Final Frontier.
With a 50,000 student international university, the largest live-music scene in the country and attractions both all-natural and high-tech, Austin is the most exciting, yet laid back city in America. In every smoky dive bar and sunny street cafe you'll find dyed-in-the-wool good ol' boys and hardcore hippies. Steeped in and surrounded by the tradition and history of the great Republic of Texas, Austin is where cosmic cowboys from all over come to congregate and create.
In Austin, we aim to misbehave, but only if we can do it together. Our goal, and the goal of every previous BCB, is to focus on the fans gathering, mingling, and interacting with each other. This is our time to meet new people, make new friends and party the night away. There will be plenty to eat, plenty to see, plenty to do and plenty of dance time, but above all else your weekend in Austin will be about you and your fellow Browncoats getting to know each other. It’s time to make friends with 150 people you’d want to be stuck out in the black with.
